His dialogue confirms this, painting him as a kindly soul who just wants to make a difference in his community, albeit with a slightly ruthless streak that's shown in how willingly he condemns criminals to death at the hands of the Silver Shroud. His soft-spoken Boston accent - complete with a slight stutter - immediately has you believing this individual has a good heart. With Kent Connolly, Bethesda created one of the most sympathetic characters in the series. Irma is Kent’s only friend, allowing him extra time in the Memory Den in exchange for his repairing the machinery when it breaks. Thinking about the horrors of the wasteland is painful for him, so instead he keeps to himself, working on restoring his hero to the airwaves and using the memory loungers to relive better times. As evidenced by his ghoulish status, Connolly has been around since pre-war times.

“Holy cannoli! It’s the nightmare of night! The deceptive detective! The dark dick! Paulie, you idiot, you were duped! That’s no normal dame!” perfectly encapsulates the alliteration-heavy dialogue of that era, even including a reference to the ‘60s Batman cartoon, a clear inspiration for the Silver Shroud.Īfter meeting with Connolly, the player will learn that he’s a diehard fan of the Silver Shroud - 'better than Grognak and Manta Man combined,' apparently. I was chuckling as I listened to Bethesda’s recreation of 1960s superhero schlock. Quest aside, the radio show is a great listen (or read). Connolly can be heard seeking help from listeners of the show, asking them to come to the Memory Den if they’re a “true fan.” The quest will commence if the player takes the ghoul up on his offer. Once the Sole Survivor comes within range of the outcast haven of Goodneighbor, they will be able to tune into the Silver Shroud radio. Well, Fallout 4 was no different, introducing an entire radio drama and associated quest based on the mysterious vigilante who shields Boston at night - the Silver Shroud. You may remember the delightful quest involving the AntAgonizer and the Mechanist tearing apart Canterbury Commons with their feud in Fallout 3, or the issues of Grognak the Barbarian that act as skill books in New Vegas. Hubris Comics and its original band of superheroes has had a presence in the Fallout universe ever since Bethesda took the reins with Fallout 3. No matter how bleak things got he’d save the day” says Kent Connolly - repairman, ghoul, and certified Silver Shroud superfan. “You ever listen to the Silver Shroud? That’s who we need.
#Silver shroud fallout 4 saving series
If anyone else has any other ways to get around this bug or knows of ways to fix it, that would be very nice.As part of DualShockers' week-long celebration of the 25th anniversary of Fallout, every day our writers recall a moment from across the series that stuck with them over the years. It seems not doing the quest is the easiest way at the moment to get around the bug. I am very fortunate that I save quite often, and have a few saves a certain points, which I don't save over. I have resorted to going back the the time RIGHT before I became the Silver Shroud and just not give him the stuff until I can either get really good weapons and VATS or it is patched.

ANother problem with using console commands is I tried the 'kill' command, but just 'kill' on it's own didn't work on the two guys.Īnother method is loading a previous save, but I have already done that many times. I was thinking of using console commands and either killing the two guys or giving Kent some armour so he doesn't die when shot, although the programing could be tuned to not how much health he loses, but if he gets shot, as to whether he does or not. I was thinking of a few ways to fix it, although I haven't tried them. I really want to get through this quest with BLOODY KENT alive, please help! I have already rage quitted and my computer has already crashed (for some reason) while trying to do this bloody section! I really want to convince him, I am not sure if anyone else has come across this bug (if it is one), I have searched the internet, and I can't find any posts of articles about this. I have tried VATS, but it's not working, as I can never kill the two of them, I never have enough AP, and drugs won't help either, as I don't have enough! I have really shoddy weapon accuracy. I have been stuck on this for AGES! I can't save Kent, I go up to approch the BLOODY guy with the Silver Shroud costume on, I walk very slowly, and he starts the line of dialouge to get me into the negotiation, but then he starts the second line of dialouge, which is the one when he shoots Ken, I haven't even been able to hear the whole sentence of his first line of dialouge! I have watched video walkthroughs for saving Kent, and I think this is a bug.
